The antiserum is reacting with the Fab subunit of intact IgG, IgA and IgM and other Ig classes of both light chain types, with their Fab or F(ab’)2 subunits and with free light chains of kappa and lambda type as tested in immunoelectrophoresis and double radial immunodiffusion. In precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis and double radial immunodiffusion to identify the presence of Fab, free or bound.
Purified Fab of normal rat IgG. Freund’s complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.
Delipidated, heat inactivated lyophilized stable whole serum. No preservative added. Total protein and IgG concentration in the antiserum are comparable to those of pooled sheep serum. No foreign proteins added.

Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to immunoglobulins, since Ig of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. Cross-reactivity of this antiSerum has not been tested in detail, however in double radial immunodiffusion a reaction with Mouse and Human has been observed.

Immunoprecipitation
Immunoprecipitation. In immunoelectrophoresis use 2 μl or equivalent against 120 μl antiserum. In double radial immunodiffusion (Ouchterlony) use a rosette arrangement with 10 μl antiserum in a 3 mm diameter centre well and 2 μl serum samples (neat and diluted) in 2 mm diameter peripheral wells. Precipitin titre not less than 1:16 when tested against normal rat serum in agar block titration.
The lyophilized antiserum is shipped at ambient temperature and may be stored at +4°C; prolonged storage at or below -20°C. It is reconstituted by adding 1 ml sterile distilled water. Working dilutions are prepared by adding sterile phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2). Repeated thawing and freezing should be avoided. Working dilutions should be stored at +4°C, not refrozen, and preferably used the same day. If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation. It will not affect the performance of the product. Lyophilized at +4°C--at least 10 years. Reconstituted at or below -20°C--3-5 years. Reconstituted at +4°C--7 days.

This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.

The IgG antibody has 2 antigen binding sites. They represent 70% or more of serum antibodies. This antibody can be antigen purified or protein A or G purified. For storage sodium azide is added or you can call us to request azide free antibody preparations. These will need colder storage temperatures.Rats are used to make rat monoclonal anti mouse antibodies. There are less rat- than mouse clones however. Rats genes from rodents of the genus Rattus norvegicus are often studied in vivo as a model of human genes in Sprague-Dawley or Wistar rats.
